Enhancing NK Cells Anti-Tumor Activity with Caripe 8 from Carapichea Ipecacuanha

A research paper, entitled ‚Boosting the anti-tumor activity of natural killer cells by caripe 8 – A Carapichea ipecacuanha isolated cyclotide‚, was published in the Elsevier Journal of Biomedicine & Pharmacotherapy [IF 6.9, Top 5% in Pharm. & Pharmacy].

In this research, plant extracts were found to increase the effectiveness of cytotoxic NK cells. The compound caripe 8, derived from Carapichea ipecacuanha, enhanced the function of both mouse and human NK cells, leading to tumor cell death. The authors observed that caripe 8 directly activated NK cells to induce tumor cell death.

Research retreat 2023

The ZK-81B project staff met recently for the research retreat in 2023. Neusiedl am See provided a wonderful environment for our event. Up to thirteen young researchers or principal investigators gathered together to hear from the lastest research progress within the PeptAIDes program and to discuss next experiments or the overall strategy. Socializing did not came to short as we used a sunny afternoon to have a bicycle tour to Podersdorf.
